In order to learn how to equalize efficiently, you have to learn how to pressurize gently. A good way to achieve this is to train FIM feet first.
If you descend feet first, air tends to rise up your Eustachian tubes. This is exactly why EQ maneuver requires 50% less force when you’re in a head-up position than head-down.
This is actually a very good strategy for those who:
- want to learn to EQ hands free
- want to turn from the Valsalva to Frenzel technique in order to be able to equalize deeper
